Over 150 New COVID-19 Cases Reported in Southern Illinois

SPRINGFIELD – State health officials Monday reported 4,729 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Illinois, including 17 additional deaths. Saline County led local case numbers, with Union second among area counties.

The total number of cases since the pandemic began in Illinois raises to 378,985, including 9,522 deaths.

Local case breakdown:

  • Saline County: 35
  • Union County: 28
  • Johnson County: 21
  • Hamilton County: 17
  • Williamson County: 11
  • Franklin County: eight
  • Pulaski County: seven
  • White County: seven, one death
  • Alexander and Jackson counties: six each
  • Massac County: four
  • Gallatin and Jefferson counties: three each
  • Hardin County: two

The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity rate regarding total tests from Oct. 19-25 is 6.3 percent.
