Equality Man Sentenced for Two Deaths in 2019 Crash

CARMI – An Equality man was sentenced Thursday in White County Court for reckless homicide after a contested sentencing hearing that began Monday afternoon and concluded on Thursday.

White County State’s Attorney Denton Aud said 42-year-old Robbie W. Darnell was sentenced to 30 months in the Illinois Department of Corrections with one year of mandatory supervised release for reckless homicide – a Class 3 felony.

Aud said Darnell pled guilty to the offense Aug. 17, stemming from a fatal crash on April 22, 2019. While recklessly driving, Darnell struck a 2008 Honda Accord on Illinois 148 in White County driven by Judith A. Egan of Norris City, resulting in her and Michelle R. Egan’s deaths.
