Charges Set for Two Involved in Vienna Casey’s Robbery

ULLIN – Illinois State Police said the Johnson County State’s Attorney’s office Friday charged two people involved in a multi-county crime spree.

Forty-nine-year-old Robert Sanders of Owensboro, Kentucky was charged with two counts of aggravated robbery (a Class 1 felony), vehicular hijacking (a Class 2 felony) and attempted aggravated robbery (a Class 2 felony). The charges carry a bond of $100,000 or 10 percent to apply.

Thirty-nine-year-old Deangela G. Lindsey of Coleman, Alabama was charged with two counts of aggravated robbery (a Class 1 felony), vehicular hijacking (a Class 1 felony) and aggravated unlawful possession of a stolen motor vehicle (a Class 1 felony). Her charges also carry a bond of $100,000 or 10 percent to apply.

Tuesday, the Massac County State’s Attorney’s office charged Sanders and Lindsey with possession of a stolen motor vehicle (a Class 2 felony). Both are being held in the Massac County Jail.

Sanders and Lindsey were involved in an early morning armed robbery at Casey’s General Story on North First in Vienna on Oct. 1. ISP, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and Vienna Police arrived within minutes and found the couple’s vehicle nearby. A short pursuit ensued and the suspects fled the scene, eventually being taken into custody without incident.

The vehicle they drove was stolen from Owensboro, Kentucky. The suspects were in the Massac County area prior to the robbery in Vienna.
