One Dead After Williamson County Crash on Route 13

WILLIAMSON CO. – In a release, Illinois State Police identified the victim from a fatal crash on Route 13 Thursday.

The driver of a pick-up truck, 73 year-old Gerald Morris of Marion, died after striking a box truck driven by 44-year-old Tremayne Tarpley of Glendale, AZ.

One person is dead following a fatal traffic crash in Williamson County Thursday afternoon.

According to a release from Illinois State Police, around 5:20, a pickup truck around 5:20 p.m. was traveling north on Paulton Rd. in Crab Orchard when the driver failed to stop, crossed the east bound lanes of Illinois 13 and entered the west bound lanes striking the drivers’s side of a box truck driven by 44-year-old Tremayne Tarpley of Glendale, AZ. The box truck then rolled over onto its side.

The driver of the pickup truck, who name won’t be released until notification of family, was fatally injured. Tarpley was not hurt.

The roadway was closed for three hours during the crash investigation, which is still underway. No further details are currently available.
