FRANKLIN CO. – The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a pedestrian accident that led to an injury that happened just after 10 p.m. Sunday on Illinois 149 near the intersection of Plumfield Rd.
Sheriff David Bartoni said 27-year-old Casen Flanagan of Zeigler was struck by an eastbound truck, driven by 18-year-old William Morris of Royalton, as he was walking in the eastbound lane of Illinois 149. Neither Morris nor his passenger were injured. Flanagan was transported from the scene and airlifted to a St. Louis area hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
The accident is under investigation and no tickets have been issued at this time.
Bartoni added the incident is the second pedestrian accident under investigation by the sheriff’s office. The first one took place June 7 at 11 p.m. when 63-year-old Roger Shelton of rural Benton was struck while riding his bicycle on Illinois 34 East of Benton. Shelton was airlifted from the scene and remains in critical condition in a St. Louis hospital.
No tickets have been issued.
