MT. VERNON – Illinois producers are taking advantage of the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP). The state leads the nation in payments made.
In the non-specialty side, there have been over 12,000 applications and $34 million paid. In regards to specialty crops, $25,000 has been sent in relief to farmers with around 12 applications. Livestock area has contributed over 100 applications.
Sandy Frick with the Jefferson County Farm Service Agency (FSA) office said there are some specific guidelines for farmers who qualify for relief payments.
