Mt. Vernon Kroger Shoplifter Arrested After Successful K9 Search

MT. VERNON – The Mt. Vernon Police Department responded Saturday evening to a report of a shoplifter who had fled from Kroger.

Henry York was taken into custody around 6 p.m. May 23 with the help of MVPD K9 Officer Bolo and his partner Travis Pendley. York had been reported to have fled into a wooded area near the store. Officer Bolo tracked York and located several items during the search before locating him in a thick, grassy area.

York surrendered to the K9 team and was taken into custody without further incident to the Jefferson County Justice Center on a charge of Felony Retail Theft. He was incarcerated with bond to be set.

K9 Bolo and Officer Pendley graduated from the Illinois State Police K9 Academy two weeks ago and this is their first street arrest.
