Illinois Coronavirus by the Numbers: Tuesday, April 14 Update

SPRINGFIELD – Gov. J.B. Pritzker further expressed in his daily COVID-19 briefing Tuesday there’s promise showing the Coronavirus curve is beginning to bend in Illinois.

The governor alongside health officials announced an additional 74 deaths due to the virus, as well as 1,122 new confirmed COVID-19 cases. Illinois now holds totals of 868 and 23,247 repsectively.

“The fact that our doubling rate continues to increase in every metric is a clear demonstration that there is a deceleration of virus transmission,” Pritzker said. “We are in fact bending the curve.”

A few health departments across southern Illinois reported cases of their own Tuesday, including a first for Union County. Here are the latest:

Jackson County (38 total)

  • Man in his sixties, acquired locally, isolated.
  • Woman in her seventies, acquired locally, isolated.

Massac County (3 total)

  • Male in his twenties, isolated.

Union County (first case)

  • Male in his twenties, isolated.

Health officials are investigating each case to determine other individual who may be impacted.
