BENTON – Benton Mayor Fred Kondritz at Monday’s Benton City Council meeting raised concerns about the city’s finances as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.
The mayor asked each council member to consider a need to layoff/furlough city employees or reduce hours to save the city money.
The mayor added Benton needs to look at it’s current state, plus be aware of the finances the city currently lacks in income and what is still available now.
Kondritz also commended the work the City Council has done and continues to do for Benton during the pandemic.
The council will likely bring it’s recommendations to the mayor at some point in the future.
