Illinois Coronavirus by the Numbers: Tuesday, April 7 Update

SPRINGFIELD – Illinois Tuesday reported it’s most significant increase in deaths related to COVID-19 with 73 Tuesday, bringing the state’s total to 380. An additional 1,287 positive cases were reported across the state, including a member of Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s staff.

Pritzker said during his daily coronavirus briefing the staff member has been recovering at home for the past several days. He added the office was cleaned with other staff asked to leave for the day, with those members reporting no related symptoms at this time.

The governor said he has not been tested, but had little contact with the person.

“I did not have regular close contact with this person,” Pritzker said at the briefing. “This is somebody who worked in the office, but not particularly close to my office and didn’t regularly enter my office. So, very little direct contact with this person.”
