Parking Ordinance to be Created for Spots Around Benton Square

BENTON – The Benton City Council acted on an ordinance Monday amending parking restrictions for the outer parking spots on the Benton Square.

According to City Clerk Brooke Craig, an ordinance will be written designating the outer parking spots on the square as “public square patron parking” with signs placed around the square. The ordinance will be in effect weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Violators will be ticketed $75.

In addition, there will be 15 minute parking for one spot in front of Seasoning Bistro, one in front of The Buzz, and those in front of the auto parts store on E. Main. The timed parking will be weekdays between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Craig added that the city council will approve the ordinance at it’s next meeting Feb. 24, then the parking changes will go into effect sometime following the meeting.
