MT. VERNON – A Mt. Vernon man is in custody after threatening to stab a man who refused to buy his jacket Sunday.
According to Mt. Vernon Police Department Assistant Chief Robert Brands, dispatchers received a call Sunday night regarding 30-year-old Christopher Hardig, who showed up to a S. 24th St. home uninvited and looking to sell his jacket to the victim. When the victim refused, Hardig pulled out a knife and threatened to stab the victim.
Hardig left the home and police located him nearby with a knife. He was then taken into custody on home invasion with a dangerous weapon and resisting a peace officer charges.
He was taken to the Jefferson County Justice Center where he remains.
