Mt. Vernon Man Charged in Connection to Monday Stabbing

MT. VERNON – A 29-year-old Mt. Vernon man was charged Tuesday in Jefferson County Court with multiple felonies in connection with the stabbing of a 34-year-old Mt. Vernon man early Monday morning.

Joshua Williams was charged with armed violence, felony aggravated battery and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Bullard said his office received notification from Good Samaritan Hospital just before 1 a.m. Monday regarding a stabbing victim at the hospital being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The incident occurred in 13,500 block of N. Harmony Ln. in Jefferson County. The man was transported to a St. Louis area hospital for treatment.

After further investigation, Williams was taken into custody, and remains so at the Jefferson County Jail with bail set at $150,000.

Bullard said Williams had a history of violent offenses prior to the incident Monday.
