Man Charged in Wednesday Fire and Shooting Incident in Du Quoin

DU QUOIN – A man will face attempted murder charges in connection with a shooting and fire Wednesday morning in Du Quoin.

According to Illinois State Police, Dustin Goodwin was charged with three counts of attempted first-degree murder and is currently in the Perry County Jail on $5 million bond. A court date has not been set.

Illinois State Police, the Du Quoin Police and Fire Departments and the Illinois Fire Marshall will continue to investigate the fire and shooting that occurred around 2:30 a.m. in the 700 block of N. Division St. following a report to police of an alleged disturbance in the area.

Officers from the Perry County Sheriff’s Office and Pinckneyville Police Department also responded to the scene to assist with the incident where Goodwin was subsequently arrested and charged.

N. Division and N. Washington St. were both closed north of E. Coles St. to all traffic during the standoff, and the latter has reopened. The investigation is ongoing.
