The Women United Network are reuniting to celebrate the Women’s Marches of 2017 and 2018 on January 19th. Event will take place at the Carbondale Civic Center, located at 200 S. Illinois Avenue in Carbondale.
This year’s event will kickoff with the Rising Star Youth Civic Awards, community engagement fair, followed by a march , rally and concert.
Their goal is to keep Women’s voices in the forefront of local and national policy & encourage local women to engage in politics and activism. This year, they have the specific goal of uniting the community to strengthen the voice of all who identify as women, our allies, and marginalized people to embolden a more equitable society.
The schedule is as follows:
11:00 Community Engagement Fair
1:00 – Rising Star Youth Civic Awards presented
1:30 – March
3:00 – 6:00 Rally and concert at Hanger 9 in Carbondale
The SIU Dental Program is holding its “Give Kids a Smile” day providing free preventative and restorative dental care for ages 1-14.
The Carbondale and Carterville Lions are also offering free vision screening ages 6 mos to 6 years.
Event is taking place on March 1, 2019 from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, located at the SIUC campus in the ASA building, room 14.
Dental appointments need to be made at 453-8826, and vision screenings are walk-in only.
The West Franklin Historical Disctrict and Silkwood Inn Museum is holding an all you can eat biscuits and gravy breakfast on Saturday, February 16th!
Event is going on from 7:00 am to 9:30 am and includes biscuits, two sausage patties, gravy, coffee, juice, or milk.
The $6.00 cost goes to the maintenance, utilities, and upkeep of the Historical District and Inn Museum.
(children 12 and under are only $3.00)
Help support local veterans while eating some of your favorite breakfast foods! The Christopher American Legion and Legion Auxiliary is sponsoring an all you can eat pancake breakfast with biscuits and gravy.
Event is taking place on Saturday, February 23rd from 7am to 10am at the Christopher Civic Center, 208 N Thomas Street.
$7.00 for adults and $3.00 for anyone 12 years and younger.
