Quarter Auction to Benefit the Humane Society of Southern Illinois

The Humane Society of Southern Illinois (HSSI) is committed to helping homeless and neglected pets in Southern Illinois. Our facility never turns away an animal in need! As such, HSSI must raise funds to help with the costs of serving these animals. These funds are used to feed, house, transport to rescue, and provide veterinary care for those animals in our care. We also offer a low cost spay/neuter program to the public. Currently we also are seeking to raise funds to enclose our garage, so that we can help even more animals!

On Saturday, April 6, 2019 the Humane Society of Southern Illinois will present a Quarter Auction at the Moose Lodge on Old 13 in Murphysboro, Illinois. This fund-raising event will include opportunities for participants to win up to 100 items!

Here’s how a quarter auction works: Attendees pay an entrance fee of $5. Each attendee gets a numbered paddle. Attendees “bid” on items and are advised how much they need to bid- this can be as low as a quarter or as high as a dollar- with no obligation to bid on any items. A random number is then drawn, and the person who has that numbered paddle will win the item, but only if they actually bid on the item (by putting their quarter(s) in the pot). If they didn’t bid, another number is drawn until there is a winner who did bid on the item. Also being sold at the event are “All-in” paddles. These paddles are $25. With this paddle, there is no need to ,’bid” on items,as you are automatically entered to win every item!

You can visit us at www.humanesocietysil.org or on Facebook. Also, if you would like to buy tickets to the event, please call us at 618-457-2362 or stop by the shelter.
