DeSoto Woman Sentenced to 20-years in Prison On Murder-for-Hire Charges

Jackson Co. – A DeSoto woman is set to spend the next 20-years behind bars after pleading guilty to a murder-for-hire plot to kill her husband. According to a release from the Jackson Co. State’s Attorney’s Office, Carmen Stonemark was sentenced to 20-years in prison for solicitation to commit murder and concealment of a homicidal death. Authorities say that Stonemark hired her lover James Deese to kill her husband, Frank. Once Deese did, Stonemark helped dispose of his body and then lied to police in filing a missing persons report. 55-year-old Stonemark will serve four years of probation at the end of her sentence. Deese, who has pleaded guilty to the murder, will be sentenced in August.
